Telecommunication giants, through the MTN Ghana Foundation has for the past 10 years invested monies worth over $13 million in developmental projects in Ghana.
The construction and renovation of healthcare facilities, classroom blocks, ICT centers and libraries, scholarship for students and entrepreneurial support, are among the 142 initiatives the foundation has invested on.
Speaking at the media launch of the 10 year anniversary celebration of the foundation in Accra, Board Chairman of MTN Ghana Foundation, Prof. Franklin Manu commended the Secretariat for a great work done over the years.
He also said the foundation would continue to impact lives and provide support for communities in the country.
“My colleagues and I will continue to search, innovate and implement strategies and projects that will brighten lives (‘everywhere we go'),” he said.
The foundation has also earmarked some events for the celebration including the commissioning of a newly constructed maternity block at the Tema General Hospital, a senior staff of the foundation Madam Georgina Asare Fiagbenu told audience when she outlined some of the events to mark the anniversary.
The celebration is under the theme; “Celebrating 10 years of brightening lives, inspiring a brighter future.”
The MTN Foundation is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) management structure for the MTN Group's related initiatives across its 22 operations.
The MTN Ghana Foundation was established in 2007 as a single purpose vehicle to drive all MTN's CSR initiatives in the country. The Foundation currently has three focus areas – Health, Education and Economic Empowerment.
