Four writers honoured at Ghana Writers Awards



 


The four award winners in a group photograph with the dignitaries at the awards ceremoFour budding Ghanaian writers were on Saturday night honoured for their creative works by the organizers of the Ghana Writers Awards (GWA).They are Philip Arko Ewusi alias Paa Kwesi Arko Cee, Celestine Nudanu, Maame Akua Akyaa Koduah, and Kwao Jonathan Tetteh.

The writers were part of 24 other shortlisted entrants in a writing contest opened by GWA in May, this year in five literary genres, including Poetry, Short Story, Poetry Contest on Illegal Mining, Literature Blogging, and Spoken Word.
Ghana Writers Awards is a literary prize instituted by some young Ghanaian literary arts compatriots to celebrate and promote Ghanaian writers and literature, particularly unpublished young writers.

The awards ceremony was on the theme: "My art my life; creating more opportunities for the youth in the literary art industry in Ghana."
The maiden edition of the awards was held on October 29, 2016 at the Marvels Ghana Mini Golf Course in Accra.

Ghana Writers Awards is the only nationally competitive literary award scheme in Ghana, targeting young writers.

Patrons at the awards ceremony, held at Christ the King Parish Hall in Accra were entertained by performers such as Ancestral Poet, Abotreh, Koo Kumi, Ink weaver, Kweku Dallah, and KYD Negger among others.

The awards was organised in partnership with Resolute Consult, Mensa Press, Turf, Poets In Nigeria (PIN), Self-Publishing Africa, Munyori Literary Journal, Presspeep.com.
